...........keeping a beady eye on ex Canaries and those out on loan
Gary Doherty has signed a two year deal with League Two side Wycombe Wanderers. The veteran centre half, who was always guaranteed to split opinions amongst the Norwich City faithful, left Charlton Athletic at the end of last season, but had been on loan with the Chairboys since January 2012.
Former Norwich City loanee Jonathan Grounds has joined League One club Oldham Athletic. The defender played 16 matches during two spells at Carrow Road from parent side Middlesbrough in 2008 and 2009. He made just 37 appearances for Boro since 2007 and had loan spells with Hibs, Yeovil and Chesterfield as well as City, before being released from the Riverside Stadium at the beginning of this close season.
Former Norwich midfielder/striker Chris Llewellyn has left Llanelli AFC and taken up a role with Welsh Football League Division One club West End, who are based in Swansea. The 32 year old, who was with the Canaries between 1996 and 2003, will combine the position of assistant manager with that of playing.
Matty Pattison has left his South African club Engen Santos after his contract expired and joined Bidvest Wits. They play in the Premier Soccer league and are associated with the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Pattison was under consideration to fill the void caused by Jonny Howson's departure from Leeds United to Norwich City earlier this year, but he was not taken on by the West Yorkshire club after a trial. Another ex Canary on the move is Kris Renton who has switched Scottish clubs from Musselburgh Athletic to Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic of the East Superleague. Bally Smart is without a club having left Latvian club Skonto Riga FC. And former midfielder Nicky Southall is now player/coach with Whitstable Town after departing Gillingham.
Much vaunted and well liked goalkeeper Fraser Forster, who played on loan for Norwich during the League One title winning season of 2009-10, has now made a permanent move from Newcastle United to Celtic. He had been on loan to the Scottish side in the two campaigns following his stint at Carrow Road. Another loanee, Elvis Hammond, left Woking in May. Danny Crow has wasted no time finding a new club after his release from Luton Town. He has joined ambitious Newport County, also of the Conference. Nor has Stephen Elliott who has joined Coventry City, who are newly relegated to League One and already have another former Norwich striker in their ranks - Cody McDonald.
