I cannot emphasise enough that when I first started Sing Up The River End! I fully expected a few months of fun, before running out of steam and ideas. That, after all, is the normal course that blogs take.
So I am actually really pleased, no, I ought to say proud, that 1000 posts is now in sight. The landmark should be reached before Norwich City next kick a ball in anger.
Part of the reason for the longevity, the thing that has taken me over the hump that sees off many an inspired newbie blogger, has been my determination to keep developing the site. Not in design - I like it as it has been for over two years now. I am talking more about the style of content. I love adding to each of the series featured. A few are coming to a natural end. But many are going to be as long as your arm. And I still have a few more ideas for the future that I just can't find any room for just yet.
This is the third close season since SUTRE! came into being. In past years I have found it a refreshing time. Not so I can write less and take it easy. Quite the contrary in fact. It is a good time to review where we are with the site and look at any changes before things start up again in August.
This month will see one development promised at the start of the year that didn't altogether happen. Around a dozen or so old articles will be dragged back to the front page each month. Not statistical information that can sit easily in it's original position. I mean player and club features that are buried deep in the 900 or more posts already on the blog. I need to roll out the speed of re-posting as a matter of urgency - I think the time will come when every day will see an old item re-published.
I am also going to begin the long task of doing a 'Our History Against.........' feature for every club we have ever played. This will take years as most take up three hours of my time. This big project will include improving some of the early items I wrote in this series. They were not very good, now I look back. To cover every team will be a mammoth exercise but it starts now.
I am busy garnering some more statistical information to add to our head to heads for the next Premier League season. These are comprehensive already, but this new information will give readers who have followed the blog for a while some additional things to look at.
In general, the number of posts will increase - partly due to re-posts but also because I am determined to add all the statistics as quickly as I can. We are going to reach 2000 posts much faster than we have the first 1000 !
Thanks to everyone who reads Sing Up The River End! regularly. And don't forget my e mail address is at the bottom of the site for anyone who wants to get in touch, if only to say hello. Norwich City are at an interesting time in their history, in many ways not dissimilar to some days from the past. Hopefully I can blend it all together to give you all a decent read each day.
